Amarillo went to the dogs — literally — as the Amarillo SPCA’s annual Muttfest fundraiser, themed “Day of the Dog Fiesta,” returned on Sunday, May 4, at the Starlight Ranch Event Center. The family-friendly event took place from noon to 5 p.m., and admission was free, though donations were appreciated to support the SPCA’s ongoing efforts to rescue and care for local animals in need.
Bobby Lee, co-owner of Starlight Ranch, hosted Muttfest again this year to celebrate his passion for four-legged friends. Attendees brought their dogs on leashes and enjoyed an afternoon filled with activities, including live music, a variety of vendor booths, food trucks, and beverages.
Event highlights included a silent auction, low-cost dog vaccinations provided by Lone Star Veterinary Services, and free microchipping by Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare.
Participants eagerly entered their pets into entertaining contests such as owner-pet lookalike, best talent, best costume, and fiesta king and queen, bringing smiles and cheers from the enthusiastic crowd.
