WINNABOW, N.C. (WECT) – Paws Place Dog Rescue is raising funds to build a storm shelter to use during hurricanes and other severe weather events.
According to the rescue, the shelter will provide secure housing and emergency supplies for the dogs in their care as well as the team caring for them during severe weather.
Lee Vanormer from Paws Place was in the studio to talk more about the fundraiser and Storm Shelter Sanctuary.
According to Vanomer, the rescue experienced flooding and other issues during past storms that impacted the dogs and staff.
“We’ve recognized we really need to complete a storm shelter on location,” she said.
Vanormer says the rescue has raised $60,000 so far and needs to raise $90,000 to reach their goal and complete the project.
