Attention dogs and your humans: Brownie’s Mutt Strut, the largest community fundraising event of the year for the Halifax Humane Society, will take place Saturday at Riverfront Esplanade, 249 N. Beach St. in Daytona Beach.

The event includes a celebratory “Walk for Animals” at 9 a.m. and kicks into gear at 10 a.m. There will be canine activity zones, no-cost pet adoptions, a food truck rally, a beer garden, and live DJs.

Appearing this year is the All-Star Stunt Dogs show, featuring high-flying dog entertainers. They will perform at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m. in the Boehringer-Ingelheim Stunt Dog Arena.

Details and advance tickets are available at https://www.halifaxhumanesociety.org/. A “Top Dog” package at $50 includes two adult humans, two shirts, a bandanna and a zone pass. Kids under 16 are admitted for free.

The “Mighty Dog” pass covers two adults, a bandanna and a zone pass while the “Brownie’s Buddy” pass is $15, covers one adult, one bandanna, and one zone pass.

The annual event in past years took place at the Bandshell in Daytona Beach and marked one of the few times that dogs were allowed on the beach. This year it relocates to the picturesque new Riverfront Esplanade in downtown Daytona Beach, which allows for more space.

The event has also been officially renamed “Brownie’s Mutt Strut” in honor of Brownie, a “town dog” that roamed the streets of downtown Daytona Beach from 1940 to 1954, “capturing hearts and embodying the spirit of kindness and hope,” according to the Humane Society.

It also marks the start of National Be Kind to Animals Week.

“We could not think of a better way to celebrate Be Kind to Animals Week than with a fun-filled Mutt Strut right here in Brownie’s footsteps,” said Sean Hawkins, CEO of the Halifax Humane Society. “Every step taken at Brownie’s Mutt Strut helps provide food, shelter, and care for animals right here in Volusia County.”

Hawkins said every dollar raised will make a “life-changing difference” for the nearly 15,000 animals that will turn to the Halifax Humane Society for caring, compassion, and hope this year alone.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
