Waverly, Tenn. — Seven children and two dogs were removed from a home in Waverly according to a press release by the Department of Public Safety.
The Waverly Police Department says they were contacted by the Dickson County Humane Society (DCHS) about the living conditions of two dogs who had been adopted by their shelter by residents on Sunset Drive.
Officers went to the address with DCHS for a welfare check on the animals concerning a tip on neglect of the dogs on Friday, April 25 in the afternoon.
The press release says officers noticed the living conditions of the home were “filthy and dangers for the occupants and animals.”
Tennessee Department of Children’s Services assisted in removing and relocating seven children ranging in the age from six months to 12 years from the home.
Four dogs were also removed with the assistance of DCHS and the Humphreys County Humane Society.
According to Waverly Police, the parents, Kassie Plunkett (29) and Zachary Snook (25), were taken to the Humphreys County Jail on criminal charges.
Both parents were charged with seven counts of child neglect and four counts of animal cruelty.
