
PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Sea Dogs secured a victory against the Reading Fightin Phils with a final score of 5-1, marking their second consecutive win. The game, held at Delta Dental Park, was a showcase of impressive defensive plays and pitching prowess.
In the top of the fourth inning, with the game tied at 1, Sea Dogs starter Blake Wehunt delivered back-to-back strikeouts, demonstrating his pitching strength. Meanwhile, Reading’s third baseman Luis Verdugo made a standout defensive play, narrowly getting Luis Ravelo out by a step.
The defensive battle continued into the bottom of the sixth, still tied at 1, as Verdugo executed another remarkable play, getting Jhostynxon Garcia out at first base.
Portland’s defense also shone, with Caden Rose in centerfield making a spectacular catch despite losing the ball in the lights. The Sea Dogs broke the tie with a four-run surge in the eighth inning, sealing their 5-1 victory over the Fightin Phils.
