Watch emu plays chase with two farm dogs in Florida
An emu named Carlos was seen playing with two dogs on a small farm in Florida.
- Emus can reach an average height of 5 feet, 7 inches.
- Carlos the emu went viral on TikTok for chasing around dogs.
It’s not every day an emu chases a dog, but TikTok viewers can get a glimpse into Mandy Cardin’s life on her Vero Beach farm.
One of Cardin’s TikTok videos of Carlos the Emu running around her property has gone viral recently.
Her video of Carlos chasing Rookie, her larger dog, and Bingo, her smaller dog, has amassed nearly 8 million views since she posted it April 16.
“The emu grew up with the dog [Rookie] since he was a chick,” Cardin told Storyful. “They love to play all the time, and normally the dog runs out of gas before the emu ever thinks about being tired.”
Cardin did not respond to TCPalm’s request for an interview.
What are emus?
Emus are large, flightless birds native to Australia. These birds are no small things, with the average height of one being 5 feet, 7 inches. Males can weigh 110-121 pounds and females can weigh about 11 pounds more than males.
These birds can live 5-10 years, and even longer in human care, according to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
