ACS opens new spay and neuter clinic to tackle roaming dog issue

SAN ANTONIO — In a bid to address the ongoing issue of free-roaming dogs, San Antonio has opened a new spay and neuter clinic on the west side.

The facility is part of the city’s initiative to provide more resources to pet owners, offering free and low-cost sterilization services.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, John Gary, the director of Animal Care Services (ACS), emphasized the importance of the clinic.

“You know, one of our, our biggest challenges that we face with our with our free roaming dog problem that we have here in San Antonio is the fact that there are so many and so you know, having Spain neuter services for our community is huge for us,” said Gary.

This clinic is the first of two planned facilities, with another set to open soon on the east side. The clinics are part of a broader commitment to increase pet resources and reduce the strain on ACS, which deals with hundreds of roaming dogs in the city.

Marina, another speaker at the event, highlighted the public health implications of the issue and the high demand for sterilization services. The clinics aim to perform thousands of surgeries to address the problem.

While the west side clinic is not yet open to the public, appointments are expected to be available starting in May. The city hopes that these efforts will significantly reduce the number of free-roaming dogs in San Antonio.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
