LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Norton Healthcare is mourning the loss of a beloved facility dog, who had been part of the hospital’s facility dog program for six years.
Officials said 10-year-old Juno died following a cancer diagnosis on Saturday.
“Unfortunately, there were already complications from the cancer, which made treatment not possible,” the hospital wrote on social media.
Juno could be seen throughout Norton’s facilities but primarily visited patients and staff at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Norton Children’s Hospital and Norton Hospital.
The hospital asks the community to keep Juno’s handler and dog mom, Child & Family Life Services Manager Heather Stohr, and her family in your thoughts and prayers, as Juno was an important part of their family too.

Despite her passing though, Juno’s legacy will live on through her babies.
Officials said in her lifetime, Juno gave birth to numerous puppies – many of whom have become facility and therapy dogs themselves, including Yarie, who see patients and staff at Norton Children’s Medical Center.
“Juno’s service to Norton Healthcare and Norton Children’s was passionately funded by Edie Nixon through the Heel, Dog, Heal program,” officials said. “Over the years, it has grown to include 12 dogs across many facilities.”
