Tito’s owner, Mia Elledge, shared that the dog disappeared on Brookgreen Cir. South in Montgomery.

“We went out of town for our anniversary and left Tito with a pet sitter we’ve used before,” she said. “Everything seemed fine until we returned on the 25th and found Tito was missing. We didn’t receive any calls or notifications about his disappearance.”
According to Elledge, the pet sitter explained that he left the door to the backyard open for Tito to go outside. The sitter then went to bed, leaving his wife watching TV. However, at some point during the night, Tito went outside and never returned.

“My thought is, don’t leave a pet access to go outside that you’re in charge of watching,” Elledge emphasized.
The family was also shocked to find the pet sitter was not at their home when they returned.
“He had the garage door open but wasn’t home,” Elledge recounted. “We were confused and worried. He told us Tito had dug out under the fence, but our dog never digs.“Tito is an inside dog who goes outside only briefly and spends most of his time on the couch.”
Despite the pet sitter’s claim that he had been searching for Tito since early morning, no one in the neighborhood had seen the dog.
“We’ve posted flyers, knocked on doors, and shared his picture on social media, but there’s been no sign of Tito,” Elledge said. “I even talked to neighbors, and no one has seen him. It’s like he vanished.”
Elledge’s frustration grew as she learned more about the pet sitter’s actions.
“He told me he had to take a broom to move Tito, which sounded strange. And he left the door open all night for Tito to go out,” she said. “His granddaughter commented on a Facebook post saying they have a doggy door, but I didn’t see one. The story just doesn’t add up.”
Elledge had relied on this sitter to care for their dog before. Neighbors told her that this isn’t the first time a pet has gone missing under the sitter’s supervision.
“I’ve heard from others in the neighborhood that similar incidents have happened before,” she said. “It’s incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking.”
The Elledge family has been tirelessly searching for Tito, holding onto hope despite the lack of leads.
“We leave the porch light on every night, hoping Tito will come back,” she shared. “We don’t want to lose hope, but it’s so hard not knowing what happened to him.”
Tito has been part of the Elledge family since 2017. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Mia Elledge at elledge_mia@yahoo.com or 832-446-8236.
