
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Beginning Saturday, a collection of 300 handbags in various styles will be on display at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
Ilene Hochberg Wood, believed to own the world’s largest privately owned handbag collection, curated the collection, highlighting her favorite bags.
The bags vary in style, including folk art, contemporary designer and embroidered. Designers showcased in the collection include:
- Jimmy Choo;
- Fendi;
- Betsey Johnson;
- Karl Lagerfeld;
- Balenciaga;
- Christian Dior;
- Nicoletta Carlone;
- Andy Warhol; and
- Nettie Rosenstein.
Visitors will be able to explore a “timeline” of the handbag which will show the trends of each decade, as well as view the bags Wood considers her favorites, many of which are “unusual and rare.”
The bags will be on display until July 20.
