4 Exciting Maine Places I Can’t Wait to Take My Dog This Spring (and You Should, Too)

Guys. Phew. It actually feels like we might be able to defrost and enjoy Maine the way it deserves to be enjoyed with our pups.

We’re deep in mud season at the moment which is where everything just feels like mush on the ground as the snow melts.

Admittedly, it’s difficult to keep your pup busy and exercised in the colder months in Maine because it’s just too damn hard to stand in the snow at the park. Relax, I still do it, just not for an hour like I typically would.

So that leaves me here. Day dreaming about the places I can’t wait to finally sink my feet into their soil with my golden doodle, Maverick. I could list 100 places but I’ll just give you my top 4.

Mackworth Island

This is a favorite spot of ours. You need to take a bridge to get there and once you’re on the island you’ll find all sorts of awesome vacant buildings to spook yourself out with. The island is perfect for chasing seagulls or just getting some alone time.

Presumpscot River Preserve Portland

This gorgeous hike along the Presumpscot River is 25 miles of literal bliss. My pup loves to swim along the edges of the trails and I love to jump off the cliffs into the river with my friends. OH! There’s tons of man-made rope swings too.

Willard Beach South Portland

This is the goat of all beaches besides Higgin’s Beach in Scarborough. Doggos are allowed to romp early mornings and late nights as long as no humans are on the beach.

Baxter Woods Portland

Located in Portland near the infamous Pat’s Meat Market is a perfectly small yet perfect dog walk in the woods that Mav loves. It’s easy to get to and you don’t have to get insanely dirty like you would taking your fur babies to the beach.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
