Howard investigating dead dogs dumped in the village

HOWARD, Wis. (WBAY) – The Village of Howard’s animal control officer is investigating at least three cases of dead dogs being left in the village.

Cases date back to late last fall. The most recent discovery was Sunday.

Officer Matt Atkinson says a small, elderly dog was found Sunday, April 13, in Pamperin Park. It was inside of a Skechers shoe box.

Earlier this year, two dogs were found in the brush at the West Deerfield kayak launch off 1000 W. Deerfield Ave. It’s believed one was there since the end of January but one may have been there since late November or early December. Both were medium-sized, short-haired dogs with a small frame, similar to a whippet, colored tan, white and gray.

If you have information that might help identify the owners, call Officer Atkinson at (920) 530-1044 or email matkinson@villageofhoward.com.

Atkinson says anyone who needs help dealing with their pet, whether it’s sick, injured or deceased, or you’re having trouble caring for it, the Citizen Animal Response Team (CART) Auxiliary is available 24/7 at (920) 819-6709.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
