This £18 Next handbag looks so much like Queen Camilla’s silver clutch

Queen Camilla has an enviable handbag collection and there was another gorgeous one on display when she attended a lavish state banquet at the Palazzo Quirinale on the penultimate night of the royal couple’s visit to Italy this week.

Camilla wore a teal Fiona Clare dress, which she paired with glittering jewels. We also spotted her silver handbag; a classic fold-over clutch. The bag is by British luxury accessories designer Launer London, which is known for its sleek structured bags, embellished with a distictive ‘twisted rope’ emblem. The late Queen Elizabeth II also owned items by the brand.

The label took to Instagram to share that Camilla was carrying a customised version of its Bella clutch, confirming it is one of four handbags the Queen owns from the brand.

If, like us, you can’t afford the £1160 price tag of the designer bag, we’ve found similar purse-friendly alternatives from more affordable retailers, including Next, M&S, and royal-favourite, Penelope Chilvers.

This fold-over silver clutch with a detachable strap is slimmer than Camilla’s bag, but will still fit your essentials as long as they’re not too bulky. The same style comes in an array of colours, from magenta to navy to a summer-ready orange.

For a slightly smaller clutch, try this envelope-style option from New Look, which has a more muted metallic look rather than high-shine. There is also a white faux-leather version.

Here’s another good-value metallic silver envelope clutch, this time by Accessorize, available at M&S. Like the others on the list, it has a slim detachable chain. This one also comes in a gold finish.

For something a little different, try this twist on a traditional clutch. The drawstring-style bag by royal-approved designer Penelope Chilvers is a little roomier than some on the list and has no shoulder strap. It’s made from leather and has a striped fabric lining. There’s also a gold version, as well as green and pink velvet iterations.

Penelope Chilvers is a brand loved by the royals including Queen Camilla, who regularly wears the Sinatra and Bartholemew boots. Princess Kate also owns a pair of its boots, which she has reportedly owned for over a decade.

This is a nice alternative to a clutch; as well as the top handle, there’s a detachable cross body strap for when you want to go hands-free.  Camilla would no doubt approve of the woven design as she stepped out in a similar look by Bottega Veneta earlier this week.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
