SPOKANE, Wash. — A woman and two dogs were killed in a house fire on Spokane’s South Hill early Wednesday morning.
According to the Spokane Fire Department, firefighters responded to multiple reports of flames from a home at 608 W. 27th Ave. Dispatchers told responding units that a woman and two dogs lived at the home and were not seen outside.
Arriving units saw heavy fire from multiple windows on the first floor of the home, and the fire department said the flames were threatening a next-door home.
Firefighters fought the fire and removed the woman and two dogs, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was controlled in an hour.
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet. The Spokane Fire Department’s Special Investigations Unit, along with the Spokane Police Department, are investigating the fire.
The fire department said the home sustained significant damage, and SCRAPS was called to retrieve the two dogs from the scene.
