MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A woman says dogs have been a constant issue in her neighborhood.
ABC 15 spoke with a Marion woman on Tuesday who said there’s aggressive dogs in her neighborhood that continue to roam unleashed.
“Let’s just say we have a communication breakdown here that really needs to be addressed right away,” said Miriam Dame, Marion resident.
Marion law enforcement have responded to Wilcox avenue eight times regarding noise disturbance and an aggressive dog attack all from the same property.
Miriam Dame lives in this neighborhood and says her first complaint was back to January 2023 regarding loud noise from the dogs throughout the night.

Since then, she says there have been numerous times her neighbor’s dogs have dug under the fence, fleeing from the property and once even attacking her dog.
“My 5-month old dog was attacked in December and I filed a report, and a patrol officer came to my home but nothing more was done,” Dame said.
Dame says she’s frustrated that this has been a constant issue for two years now.
Council members addressed Dame and her concerns, and said they will solve this problem.
Dame responded in the meeting, saying ‘it’s time to stop talking and take action.’
“I know it probably hasn’t been as much as it should’ve been for us but we’re not unaware and trying our best to make sure — We’re not talking, we’re trying to take action but it’s a job because dogs — it’s a job but we’re trying our best,” said Emerson hunt, mayor pro temp.

ABC 15 talked with Dame after the meeting, and she said she just wants to see something done about it.
“I would like to see these people fined to the maximum possibility,” said Dame. “I would like to see citations at every incident in the hopes that will provoke them to do something different.”
Dame said next week her neighbor has a court hearing for disturbing the peace – and she will be speaking as a witness.
City officials told us law enforcement is responsible for handling animal related incidents during weeknights and weekend as Marion animal control does not operate during those times.
