RICHLAND, Wash.- Janna Davis was walking her corgi, Chicken Nugget, early Friday morning near Lewis and Clark Elementary School when two large dogs attacked her.
Davis described the terrifying moment when she began screaming for help. A nearby neighbor heard her cries and rushed over.
“When I looked over it, when I kind of looked up, there were a pair of running shoes next to me, and somebody was standing over me, swatting the dogs away with his hands,” Davis said.
The man who helped Davis was out for his regular Friday morning run. He mentioned that he usually runs for half an hour but decided to stay out a bit longer that day.
“Put him exactly where he needed to be to help me, and I can’t imagine what would have happened, had he not been there because it was six in the morning. Nobody was really awake,” Davis stated.
Police and more neighbors arrived shortly after the incident. Davis was unaware of the extent of her injuries until she reached the hospital.
“Thirteen of my teeth were knocked loose. And so I have to have 13 teeth extracted. And so now we’re talking denture plates and, you know, scars and, I hear dogs bark and I get scared. Just things you didn’t think about before. So it’s it’s a long road,” Davis said.
Despite the ordeal, Davis expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received from the community. Social media has been flooded with public support, and community members have offered to help walk her dog, provide meals, and offer endless support.
“I’m not trying to call attention to irresponsible owners. I’m trying to call attention to miracles. You know, even in the most destitute, darkest places, people are there. And I’m so honored to be a part of this community,” Davis emphasized.
