VALLEY VIEW, Ohio (WOIO) – Nine dogs from Kentucky are now making Cuyahoga County their new home. They were saved from a shelter that was damaged during last weeks intense storms.
The dogs arrived at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter on Saturday from the Hopkins County Humane Society.
Dangerous storms and intense flooding tore the roof off the shelter.

“It was uninhabitable for the dogs and the cats there,” says Jen Huettich, Manager of External Affairs at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter.
The Bissel Pet Foundation reached out to shelters all across the region, looking for extra space for these animals.
The transfer team then loaded up the dogs and started their trip, brining the dogs to safety.
“They got stuck in some flooding. So, there were some road closures. So what would had been a six hour journey, literally took all day,” says Huettich.
In total, 33 dogs were saved and brought to Ohio.
All nine that are at the Cuyahoga County Animal shelter are up for adoption.
“We are just thrilled to have them here. It is just an amazing opportunity to work along side each other because shelters are so full right now,” says Huettich.
Huettich shared that they are so blessed to be able to lend a helping hand, while still focusing on the community they serve.
“We help out as often as we can, but our number one priority has always been and will continue to be Cuyahoga County,” says Huettich.
She says if you are interested in adopting any of the dogs, please reach out to the shelter.
