Man, three dogs perish in Lizella weekend house fire

A man was found dead after a fire engulfed a home in Lizella, Ga. early Saturday morning.

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department said crews were dispatched to a home inside the 2900 block of South Lizella Road at 1:22 a.m. and found heavy flames on the front side of the house.

Once firefighters were able to begin extinguishing the home, a search through the house led to the discovery of 68-year-old Gary Pritchett dead along with three dogs also killed in the fire.

The fire department said the fire began in the living room and spread through the rest of the house and it appears to be accidental.
