Several animals were rescued from a formerly licensed breeder in Cedar County on Thursday.
The Humane Society of Missouri’s (HSMO) Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 42 dogs and nine cats from a former breeding facility in Cedar County, Missouri, that is no longer licensed.
Several of the dogs rescued were Alaskan Malamutes, Corgies, Doodle Mixes and more.
HSMO worked with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the state Attorney General’s office to make the rescue possible.
The animals were brought to the Society’s St. Louis location where they received food, supplies and veterinary care.
An update on Friday shared that the animals greeted staff with tail wags and kisses.
“There is no better feeling than that. They knew they were finally safe.”
A disposition hearing will be held on April 22 to determine whether HSMO will take custody of the animals.
In the meantime, the high influx of animals also means the need for more supplies and support.
