Woman says her dogs were found dead, tied up in Gaston County woods

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WBTV) – The Gaston County Police Department said it is investigating at least one report animals being brutally killed.

WBTV spoke with the owner of two dogs who were allegedly killed near her home. That owner, Hannah Postelle, said she knew something was wrong on Wednesday when she wasn’t seeing her dogs’ Air Tags ping.

Postelle said she raised her 8-year-old pit bull-lab mix, Mia, and her 2-year-old red nose pit bull, Philly, since they were pups.

Postelle said she eventually found her dogs near Unity Church Road.

“I said, ‘Mia, come here Mamma,’ and I was calling her all her little names and she didn’t pop her head up, so I was like, ‘that’s weird,’” Postelle recalled.

When they didn’t respond, she knew something was wrong. Then she said she found them.

“He was tied to a stray that’s been coming in my yard and that’s how I found them,” Postelle said. “I’m angry, I’m frustrated, I’m upset, I’m crying, I haven’t … haven’t slept.”

Postelle said her dogs were like her children and she can’t believe someone would do this to them.

“They had to take my babies away in bags,” she said. “I couldn’t even kiss my girl.”

Postelle has been posting about the case on social media. The admins of the Facebook group “Kings Mountain Town Talk” — Jada Henson and Jordan Spitler — said they have seen several more people with similar stories.

“It starts to jog your memory,” Henson said. “It brings things back.”

The admins said people have shared about dead dogs, cats, racoons and more being found around the area on their page. WBTV has reached out to other local law-enforcement agencies who said they have not gotten the reports. Despite that, the admins said such incidents have brought the community closer.

“Stuff like this brings a community together, no matter what the case,” Spitler said.

“My Mamma Mia, she absolutely loved giving hugs, she loved it,” Postelle said. “So, I would give her the tightest hug … kiss her so many times. And my fat boy, he loved to lay on his back an get his belly rubbed. I’d give him the best belly rub.”

Postelle said if she could, she would love on her babies one more time. She also said she wants to see them get the justice they deserve.

“I’ve heard of this kind of stuff happening, you know, and then when it happens to you it’s a totally different story,” she said.

A GoFundMe was started by Postelle’s mother to give the dogs a proper burial. Anyone wishing to donate can do so here.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
