The dogs were found on Six Mile Island, a nature preserve located in the middle of the Ohio River.
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Three dogs were rescued from the Ohio River near Louisville, Kentucky, on Thursday.
The dogs were found stranded on Six Mile Island, a nature preserve located in the middle of the river.
Out of growing concern of the rising water levels, the staff at Admiral’s Anchor notified Jeffersonville Fire Department.


Members of the department’s water recue team, assisted by Jeffersonville Animal Control, we able to safely find and rescue the dogs from the island.
The dogs are now in the care of the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter.
