BEND, Ore. — The public has a chance to support Mt. Bachelor’s avalanche dog team at a fundraising event this weekend.

Shasta and Ruddy have already passed the certification test. Cashew and the newest addition, Jetty, are well on their way. These dogs are trained to quickly sniff out someone buried in an avalanche.

“They’re like, our on hill backup insurance policy in case we have an inbounds avalanche—these dogs and their noses and their ability to be four wheel drive on the snow. They’re the quickest way we can find someone buried in an avalanche, so quicker than an avalanche beacon, quicker than just us probing,” Patrol Training Supervisor Drew Clendenen said.

A portion of proceeds will go directly to the Mt. Bachelor avalanche dog team.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
