Frank the golden retriever proved his breed can be friendly to a fault.

The 3-year-old pup recently went viral for his adorable encounter with a delivery driver. In a March 12 TikTok post, Frank’s owners, Bri Tonzi and Steve Agati, shared footage of the interaction.

In the clip, which includes the text “Why golden retrievers can’t be guard dogs,” Frank appears on home security footage greeting a delivery person pulling into the driveway of the dog’s Auburn, New York, home. Frank waits excitedly in the driveway, tail wagging, for the delivery person to exit and approach the front door.

Once the delivery person is out of the truck, the golden retriever follows the man up to the front door, smiling at him. The delivery person then sets the package down and easily encourages Frank to pose in the delivery confirmation photo. The video closes with the package delivery confirmation photo Agati received from the driver, which features a beaming Frank standing beside the box

The precious clip now has over 13.9 million views on TikTok and has inspired thousands of comments.

Commenters left jokes like”No, he’s doing a perfect job guarding the package” and “Package left with the receptionist,” according to Agati.

Frank’s pet parents tell PEOPLE they are shocked by the overwhelming reaction to the dog’s friendliness, which is typical behavior for the golden retriever. Agati says the canine has a close relationship with a mailperson who visits daily and is generally eager to meet everybody.

Agati and Tonzi discovered the cute moment in the clip after they received the delivery confirmation photo featured at the end of the popular TikTok.

“I’m driving home, and I see a FedEx email, and I just opened it quick, and the picture opened, and I went, ‘What?’ And so that’s when I went back on my cameras and found it,” Agati explains.

After finding the clip, Frank’s owners shared the footage with family and friends on their private social media accounts. Their peers urged them to share the moment with everyone, which led to the creation of the now-famous TikTok. The post reached 30,000 views in its first night and rapidly accumulated fans.

“That’s our normal Frank, and to think that this video brought so much joy and so many people saw it is just crazy,” Tonzi says.

Tonzi and Agati brought Frank home from OPK Goldens in Pennsylvania in 2022. After he moved in, two things stood out about the puppy: he was huge and easy to love.

“We joked that his name was Frank The Tank,” Agati says about the dog’s considerable size. “So the breeder accidentally made his birth certificate read Frank The Tank, so that’s what his name is legally in the AKC.”

Frank impressed his pet parents with his size and manners. The golden retriever didn’t chew up anything during puppyhood and had no recurring accidents. Shortly after joining the family, Frank was given free roam of the house and its two acres and has never caused problems.

“He just knows what to do and loves people,” Agati summarizes Frank’s personality. “He goes everywhere, and he’s so chill. You can be eating dinner, and he’ll just lay at your feet or stare at you.”

Unsurprisingly, Agati and Tonzi plan to involve Frank in their upcoming wedding. Maybe another chance to go viral? Perhaps, but Frank is focused on enjoying life as it comes and hanging out with his friends, who can now say, “I met Frank before he was famous.”
