A woman wanting to soak up the spring sunshine decided to bring her work and lunch outside, but with her dog, she quickly realized her plan wouldn’t work.
With the sun shining and short-sleeve weather finally here, Carly Cavins wanted to take advantage of it. She sat at the outdoor table and set her lunch and tablet up in front of her in the March 12 TikTok video. But this change of scenery left her mini Aussiedoodle—a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a miniature poodle—slightly confused. He thought her being outside was an invitation to play.
Her dog immediately demanded attention as soon as Cavins got comfortable. He wanted to play with her, but Cavins tried explaining she needed to eat. Any type of no would not fly for the dog as he started barking his demands. Shocked by this unusual behavior, Cavins “gave in” and got up from her seat to play with him.
The home security camera captured the interaction where Cavins started “playing” with her dog. Except, it wasn’t a true game of fetch. She flung her arm, pretending to throw a ball and he took off running with a giant smile plastered on his face. Cavins told Newsweek via TikTok that this continued for about five to six minutes before he got tired.
She jokingly wrote on the video: “All of that to play some fake fetch.”

The playtime eventually progressed to a real game of fetch.
“I actually threw him the stick so then he chewed on it and let me eat my lunch,” she said.
She explained in the comment section that he has a bunch of outdoor toys to play with, but he always gravitates toward sticks. That, and, he’s still a fan of fake fetch.
“It also works out nicely because he doesn’t always bring back the stick or the ball so then with the fake fetch I don’t have to chase him down!” she said.
Cavins said she hasn’t tried eating or working outside again but blames the weather for not being as nice since this video.
With over 2.9 million views and 254,300 likes on TikTok, people couldn’t stop laughing at the dog’s persistence.
“They OWN us,” joked one viewer, while another added: “He trained his human well.”
A third person wrote: “Just dog mom things always when you’re about to sit down and eat too.”
