World’s most expensive dog is the first breed of its kind

Who’s a pricey pooch?

The world’s most expensive — and unique — dog has sold for a fetching $5.7 million. Being the first of its kind, this is pooch is a cross between an actual wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd — which can sound like a sci-fi movie plot.

An Indian dog enthusiast barked up the big bucks for the “wolfdog” named Cadabomb Okami, touted as the rarest dog in the world.

This extravagant pup was born in the US and is only eight months old — but already weighs over 165 lbs and is 30 inches tall.

Being part Shepherd, at heart Okami is a guardian breed — known for its protective instincts and intelligence — that “should never be taken lightly,” according to the American Kennel Club. Knowing this, Okami will make for a good watchdog.

The posh pup was sold in February to S Sathish, 51, a renowned dog breeder from Bengaluru, the capital of India’s southern Karnataka state.

“I spent 50 million rupees on buying this pup because I am fond of dogs and like to own unique dogs and introduce them to India,” Sathish said, according to The Sun. Being fond of pups is an understatement as Sathish owns over 150 different dog breeds.

Okami’s arrival in India has certainly sparked a lot of excitement. One video of him on the red carpet at a film premiere Sathish brought him to, raked up 3 million views online, the breeder claimed.

The dog enthusiast stopped breeding dogs about a decade ago, but he now makes his money by showing off his su-paw-star dogs to excited crowds, raking in anywhere from $2,800 for 30 minutes to $11,700 for five hours.

“I spent money on these dogs because they are rare. Besides, I get enough money because people are always curious to see them,” Sathish explained. “They take selfies and pictures. My dog and I get more attention than an actor at a movie screening, we both are crowd-pullers.”

Sathish also owns a rare Chow Chow, a breed that resembles a Qinling panda, the red and white ones from China — which he bought for about $3.25 million last year.

Thankfully all of these dogs are well taken care of — they live on a seven-acre farm where each has a 20 ft by 20 ft room as their kennel.

“There is enough space for them to walk and run. There are six people to look after them,” the owner said. “They don’t need air conditioner as the weather in the city is cool but they are well taken care of.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
