3 dogs killed in Connersville fire

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — Three dogs are dead after a fire in Connersville Saturday morning.

The Connersville Fire Department, Fayette County EMS and Connersville Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West 3rd Street, just before 6:30 a.m. March 15, for a report of a structure fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they said they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the building.

“Due to the residence being converted into a multi-unit building at one time, access to the upstairs was blocked in the original staircase. Another unit had access to the upstairs but the entire floor in that unit had collapsed prior to the fire and was not safely accessible,” the Connersville Fire Department said in a post on Facebook. “The fire spread up into the upstairs and the attic which compromised the integrity of the structure and forced firefighters to evacuate.”

The fire department said crews used ladders to get to the second floor and to get through the roof to finish putting the fire out.

Two people and five dogs lived in one of the units in this building, crews said. Unfortunately, three of those dogs died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
