DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – A Delhi Township woman says her two dogs, known for escaping her property, are no longer there.
FOX19 NOW first reported on the situation in December 2024 after Chazidy Bowman’s dogs got loose and killed a cat in the neighborhood.
More recently, the dogs killed a goat, according to Bowman and the goat’s owner.
Bowman shared that she has moved out of the state and wants people to know she wasn’t negligent with her animals.
“As much as people get nervous about them being loose, we feel the exact same way,” Bowman told FOX19 NOW Friday.
Bowman’s dogs were spotted roaming around Delhi Township, reportedly becoming aggressive with other animals.
“If it was my animals, I would feel the same way. I would be upset. I would be sad, but I do have compassion. I love animals. I really do, but I have compassion for these people and I want them to know that. I asked, and I wanted to reach out to them, but I was told that wouldn’t be a good idea with how upset people were,” Bowman expressed.
Bowman said her dogs don’t spend much time outside, and when they do, they are confined to the backyard.
“In the backyard I had created a run line to put them on the run line and they were getting loose from that,” Bowman explained. “So that’s where that was coming from. It’s not like I was being irresponsible just letting them run all over the neighborhood. That’s not the fact at all.”
Bowman said she reported every time her dogs got loose, even one time posting to Facebook to notify her neighbors that they had gotten out.
As FOX19 NOW previously reported, Cincinnati Animal CARE said Bowman was cooperative.
“The owner took full responsibility,” Dog Warden Lt. Brandon Henry said in December 2024. “She knew those were her dogs. She didn’t try to avoid anything. She did the right thing.”
Bowman has had the dogs since they were puppies, and she says one of them is her service animal.
“What they’re being portrayed as and what they really are are two totally different things,” Bowman continued.
Bowman is facing charges in Hamilton County related to the dogs’ escape.
- Confinement of dog(s)
- Failure to register dog(s) or dog kennel
- Failure to display a valid dog tag
- Transfer of ownership certificate
Cincinnati Animal CARE confirmed that there have been other sightings of loose dogs in Delhi Township, but say there haven’t been any reports of them being aggressive.
