Dog found tied in trash bag, dumped in Des Moines has new home

DES MOINES, Iowa — A dog who was found tied up in a trash bag and dumped in Des Moines now has a new home.

On December 10 a male bulldog, now named Wally, was found along the side of a road in Des Moines tied up in a trash bag. At the time, Wally was emaciated, weighing just over 23 lbs. Wally was taken to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa for treatment.

Over the last several weeks Wally has been on a specialized feeding program and has gradually gained weight, the ARL said. When he was considered mostly healthy, Wally was placed in a foster home to continue recovering.

According to the ARL, Dave and Karen Miglin decided to become a foster home because of Wally’s story and welcomed him into their home. On Tuesday the ARL announced that the Miglins made Wally a permanent member of their family after officially adopting him last week.

“When we heard Wally’s story, we were angry and heartbroken, and felt compelled to help in any way we could,” the Miglins said in a statement. “Our family has always believed in adoption and helping dogs in need of loving homes. Animals give us such unconditional love, and Wally has done just that.”

After Wally was found an investigation was opened by the Des Moines Police Department. So far, no suspects have been identified. Anyone with information about Wally’s case is asked to contact the DMPD’s Chief Humane Officer at (515)248-6052. Tips can also be submitted on the DMPD app or at Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
