KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WCYB) — A local veterinarian is sounding the alarm about a potentially deadly disease affecting dogs.
Colonial Heights Animal Hospital in Kingsport has seen an increase in canine parvo cases lately.
Those who work there want to remind dog owners to make sure their dogs are vaccinated against this highly contagious disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract and attacks white blood cells.
Symptoms of parvo include lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting and severe diarrhea. Dogs need three shots to be fully vaccinated.
