Hudson Valley Humane Society is seeking information about an abandoned dog found Feb. 26 in Harriman State Park. The dog, a female and apparently an Tibetan Mastiff, was found tied to a tree.
HVHS is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
The agency, which works to prevent animal cruelty, is seeking information about the incident, the dog’s owner or owners, or any other information that could lead to an arrest.
AnnMarie Gaudio, HVHS president and humane law enforcement officer, said this is a case of animal cruelty. “This is an active investigation by the Hudson Valley Humane Society humane law enforcement,” Gaudio said.
The dog had been tied to a tree at least overnight, if not longer. Gaudio could not provide further details about the dog because it is an active investigation.
“This is not a common breed,” Gaudio said.
Guadio said it’s important to find those responsible. “I am concerned there are other dogs where she came from.”
