ZURICH, Switzerland (WKRC) – How much would you pay to bring your furry friends back home?
A 59-year-old man returned to his home near Zurich expecting to see his two Bolonka dogs, expensive toy dogs from Russia that sell for up to a few thousands dollars. Instead, his dogs were gone and in their place was a letter than demanded 1 million Swiss francs, or about $1.135 million.
The victim immediately called the police, who began their investigation right away. After about a week of searching, police arrested a 30-year-old man at Zurich Airport on Thursday, per the Associated Press. Police said they strongly believed the man was connected to the dognapping.
That arrest led police to a 38-year-old man in Poland who was in possession of the two Bolonkas, who were still alive and well. The 38-year-old was arrested and the dogs were returned to their owner.
