COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A child is in “extremely critical condition” after being attacked by two dogs on Sunday, according to Columbus police.
Officers responded to the incident on the 3500 block of Hiawatha Street around 1 p.m.
Upon arrival, one officer shot both dogs. One dog is deceased, and the other is in the possession of animal control, according to CPD Sgt. Joe Albert.
The young child, a boy under the age of 10, was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by one of the officers.
The child is in “extremely critical condition,” according to Albert.
“Animal Control is investigating the incident. The dogs appeared to be loose from a residence down the street and were not the family’s dogs,” Albert said.
