A family contacted 911 for a medic after a stray dog they had taken in bit their child on the ankle.

The incident was reported in the 1900 block of West Grand Avenue at approximately 12:36 p.m.

The family says they don’t know what set the dog off and prompted the bite.

The family told News Center 7 that the child was fine, and this was just an unfortunate accident.
The child’s aunt, Kaylinn Yant, says she has been seeing loose dogs on the street often. She says they usually have collars and have run away from their homes.
“It’s not something I would like to say, but euthanize them so you can have more room for dogs that need to be placed and not be on the street,” Yant said. “Because that just causes more chaos for people, you know, car accidents and stuff like that.”
This is the second dog bite in the Miami Valley reported Sunday. The other dog attack was on Titus Avenue in Harrison Township where a paramedic was bit while answering a medical call.

The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center is asking people to report strays in their area, so they can keep track of them.
