OSHKOSH (WLUK) — Several dogs died in an Oshkosh house fire Thursday.
It happened in the 2700 block of Clover Street.
John Holland, the public information officer for the Oshkosh Fire Department, said the call initially came in as a reported explosion.
“We really don’t think it was an explosion. We think it was a fire that took off pretty good, but snuffed itself out,” Holland explained.
He said the fire caused “a lot of damage” to the home. “It is pretty much uninhabitable, so [the residents] will have to find a place to stay,” Holland added.
According to Holland, “a couple” of dogs were killed in the fire, but he did not specify exactly how many.
No one was home at the time of blaze and there were no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
