
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Pony Express Therapy Dogs (PETD) of Northwest Missouri celebrated their most successful year, since the program began in 2017 with 10 handler and dog teams.
According to a news release, they ended 2024 with 620 team visits in six counties in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas made by 21 dogs and 25 working teams.
Volunteers with PETD dedicate their time to provide comfort to children and adults of all ages.
Teams are regularly scheduled to visit care centers, schools, libraries, universities, a local coffee shop, and a childcare center.
Pony Express Therapy Dogs will be accepting a new group of teams soon.
Orientation will be on March 19 at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to reserve a seat, contact the Buchanan County Extension Center by March 18 at (816) 279-1691.
