Fairmont man arrested after deputies find dogs abandoned in home

FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) – A Fairmont man was arrested over the weekend after deputies found four dogs abandoned in a home, along with one dead dog, earlier this month.

David Griffin, 57, was arrested and charged with five counts of animal cruelty, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a Griffin’s home on Gilboa Road in regard to a dog chasing a horse on a neighboring property on February 6th.

After attempting to make contact with the homeowner and obtaining a search warrant, deputies entered the home later that day and found four dogs living among trash and old food, court documents say. A brown Labrador, a female chihuahua, a female terrier mix and a male terrier mix were removed by animal control.

The terrier mixes were confined in a wire-style kennel with no food or water, and a second chihuahua was found dead in the bedroom of the home, court documents say.

Griffin is normally gone from his home on Gilboa Road for weeks at a time, according to neighbors, and was last seen about a week prior to the incident.

Griffin is currently in the North Central Regional Jail with bond set at $15,012.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
