
Authorities in Tulsa County arrested three men and rescued nearly 40 dogs during an animal cruelty investigation in Turley.
Tip Leads to Discovery of Dozens of Dogs
According to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a tip from a concerned citizen and went to a home in the 5800 block of North Elwood Avenue to check on the welfare of several small dogs being kept outdoors in the cold.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered dozens of dogs in raised outdoor kennels without adequate shelter from the freezing temperatures. Their water bowls were frozen, and several dead puppies were found among the living animals.
Search Warrant Reveals More Unsanitary Conditions
Detectives obtained a search warrant and searched inside the home, where they found additional dogs kept in dirty kennels. In total, deputies rescued 39 dogs and recovered five dead dogs from the property.
3 Arrested
Three men were arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on felony animal cruelty charges:
- Marshall Favors, 61
- Joseph Lutz, 45
- Joseph Vipperman, 29
Animal Services Steps In
Tulsa Animal Services has taken custody of the rescued dogs and is providing them with the necessary care and shelter.
