Hilarious difference in dogs’ personalities captured with one question

A TikTok video showing two dogs’ wildly different reactions to the same simple question has left viewers in stitches, racking up more than 1.2 million views and over 209,000 likes in just two days.

The pair were captured showing off their polar opposite responses to the command “walk” in a short video filmed by their owner. The resulting footage, which was then shared to TikTok on February 18, perfectly displayed the stark contrast in personalities between the high-energy cocker spaniel and the more reserved fox red Labrador when their owner asked if they want to go for a “walk.”

The video, captioned “Chalk and cheese dogs,” showed the two pets sitting in a living room—one dark brown, the other golden. As soon as their owner posed the question, the cocker spaniel exploded into action.

Viewers were able to see the canine leaping around the room in an uncontrollable frenzy of excitement. Meanwhile, the Labrador remained grounded, its body language exuding silent joy and eager anticipation.

The video humorously highlighted how different breeds—and individual dogs—express excitement in their own unique ways. Cocker spaniels are known for their boundless energy and enthusiasm, traits that make them popular as both working dogs and family pets. Labradors, on the other hand, are often characterized by their agreeable and patient nature, despite also being playful.

The clip has resonated with dog lovers worldwide, drawing in more than 400 comments from amused viewers online.

“As an experienced dog trainer I can tell you that one of them wants to go for a walk, and the other can’t be bothered…It is difficult to spot the signs though,” one viewer said.

Another added: “Danger word for my spaniel, he is the house in an uproar before you get up from chair.”

“I have a black cocker spaniel and she behaves the same way yours does,” a different person said.

Another added: “The spaniel’s spike of hair is everything.”

“You’ve set my spaniel off with the word walk,” someone else said.

Another added: “Finally it’s not just my spaniel.”

“I’m glad he didn’t overreact,” a different person joked.

Another said: “He looks like anxiety from inside out.”
