PITTSFIELD TWP., MI – In the months since his long-time partner was fatally stabbed, Ed Berger has been left with pictures, memories and the couple’s beloved golden retriever.
Now, the 9-year-old dog, Isabelle, is at the center of a custody dispute between Berger and Elana James, his late partner’s daughter. Berger points to a contract with Isabelle’s breeder, while James claims ownership of Isabelle transferred to her when her mother died.
