CINCINNATI (WXIX) – New details were released in court as a father faces charges in connection the death of his daughter.
Warren Houston faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, endangering children, and reckless homicide, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.
The charges stem from the death of his daughter, Kingsley Wright.
On Dec. 27, 2024, Wright was mauled by two dogs inside a home on Stillwell Road in Roselawn, Cincinnati police said.
On Friday, county prosecutors said the attack lasted for around 30 minutes and Wright was not killed immediately.
Houston, according to prosecutors, was sleeping in another room at the time.
The 3-year-old Wright was asleep on the living room couch when she was attacked, according to a 911 call.
“Apparently, the victim is yelling and crying during the incident,” the prosecution explained in court Friday. “The dogs are barking loudly during the incident. At no point does anyone wake up and come back to the room to offer aid or retrieve the animals.”

“I just woke up, and my daughter is dead,” Houston says in the 911 call. ”There’s blood everywhere, I don’t know what happened. I don’t understand what went on.”
As emergency crews headed to the Roselawn apartment, the dispatcher advised the man to “put away” any pets.
“They’re in the cage, that’s why I’m like, ‘Did any of my pets attack her or something?’” He said.
“Were they out loose?” The dispatcher asked.
“No,” he responded.
Cincinnati Animal CARE was dispatched to the scene that morning.
A media spokesperson for the shelter said police called them to remove three dogs from the home.
Ohio law says dogs who have bitten someone should be quarantined for at least 10 days for rabies observation. Additionally, the owner of the dog(s) is held liable if the animal causes injury or death.
Houston pleaded not guilty to the charges and his bond was set at $200,000.
