A TK Maxx shopper was left baffled after noticing a strange note in all the handbags she was picking up.
We all know that TK Maxx is a haven for designer steals, random quirky things you probably don’t need but desperately want, fantastic novels, and beauty steals from your favourite brands. But have you ever spotted weird notes in the handbags before?
One woman, who posts on TikTok as @madssteffano, pointed out that she kept seeing scraps of paper with names written on them in the handbags she was looking at in the discount store, and she was desperate to know what they meant.
“Please help? Am I going crazy? Like why is this a thing? And they all say Bob and Lisa,” she wrote as part of the caption.
Mads had taken out the stuffing in the handbag, and had noticed the note in the bottom of the bag, leaving her confused as to who Bob and Lisa were. Over the top of the video, where she was looking through the handbag for answers, she penned: “Someone explain to me right now why I keep finding a piece of paper that says Bob and Lisa in purses at TJ Maxx [the international name for TK Maxx]?
“It’s like in all of them. I need answers now,” she demanded – and they were given in the comments section.
Someone claimed that Bob stands for “Bottom Of Bag”. They also said that Lisa stands for “Look In Small Areas”. They alleged that this is “loss prevention terminology” to ensure that nobody is putting additional items in larger ones, like handbags.
Another commenter claimed that if the staff find them, there’s something in it for them. “If the cashiers find them and turn them while ringing you out, they get entered into a drawing, which means they did their job and checked inside,” she alleged.
“This just pulled a memory from deep inside my brain from working at TJ Maxx,” a woman penned. Someone else added that the notes were “reminders for employees”. But obviously, if they don’t look for them, then they can’t find them.
“I’m just gonna go to TJ Maxx, take them all out, and give them to my cashier to turn in for a prize,” someone joked.
A TikToker said that it’s to “make sure nobody is hiding anything or stealing”. “When cashiers would find it at my TJ Maxx, you would get a candy bar,” an employee shared.
