(NewsNation) — Still looking for someone to be your valentine? Consider taking a shelter dog on a date this Valentine’s Day.
Chewy, an online retailer of pet products (including the popular Lamb Chop toy), has partnered with nearly 50 animal shelters across the country to launch “Dogs’ Date Out.”
Chewy will provide participants with a “date kit” that includes toys, treats, a leash, a blanket, a portable water bowl, poop bags and an “adopt me” bandana.
Participating shelters are in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Texas and 22 other states.
Whether you’re single, taken or simply a dog lover, this is a date you — and the dogs — won’t forget.
Dog date ideas
Don’t worry about planning the “perfect” date. Your love and time are what the pups will cherish the most. But here are some date ideas Chewy suggests:
- Dog picnic (indoors works too, if the weather is bad)
- Dog-friendly brewery
- Hike on a dog-friendly trail
- Dog park or dog-friendly beach
- Bake homemade dog treats (with ingredients approved by the shelter)
