ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore is asking for the public’s help in a dog mauling case.
Gladys Anthony died after being attacked by three dogs in her backyard in the 5900 block of Theodore on Jan. 15. Police said the dogs escaped from a neighbor’s property. Family members told First Alert 4 that Anthony was deaf and likely did not hear them. When police arrived at the scene, they found her husband fighting the dogs with a broomstick.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Ms. Anthony for their tragic loss as a result of this horrific incident,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “We are urging anyone who can provide our office or the police with any information about this incident, or past incidents, involving these dogs to contact us immediately.”

The request for the public’s assistance in the case comes a day after St. Louis police said that the Circuit Attorney’s office refused involuntary manslaughter charges against a 54-year-old man due to lack of evidence.
“The death of Gladys Anthony is a complete tragedy and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department detectives worked with the Circuit Attorney’s Office to carefully review the facts of the case. If any new evidence comes to light, SLMPD will review it and notify the Circuit Attorney’s Office,” said Mitch McCoy, director of public affairs and information for the St. Louis Police Department.
The three dogs involved in the attack were euthanized.
