DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) – A 5-year-old boy is recovering after a dog attack in Dearborn Heights this week.
Video caught the moment two dogs, a black German Shepherd and a brown pit bull attacked the child, pulling him to the ground.
What we know:
A 5-year-old boy was attacked by two dogs in Dearborn Heights on Thursday. It happened in the area of Evergreen and Ford.
Footage from a nearby home showed a boy in the front yard facing off against two dogs. At one point, he tried to run before being pulled down by one of the dogs.
According to Paul Vanderplow, the director of support services in Dearborn Heights, police responded and after tending to the child, went out to find the dogs.
“We couldn’t find them at first, and we’ve been looking for them since,” said Vanderplow.
According to the child’s father, he suffered injuries to his neck and back, but is recovering.
What we don’t know:
Police have yet to find the dogs, which include a black German Shepherd and brown Pitbull.
They have also ticketed the individual they believe to be the owner.
“From what we’re seeing on the home life of these animals, I would not say it is stable or consistent,” said Vanderplow. “So that’s been part of the problem as well.”
