Two Massachusetts dogs are competing in the Puppy Bowl this Sunday — on opposite teams.
Puppy Bowl, the longest running call-to-adoption television event, is returning for its 21st year at 2 p.m. EST on Feb. 9.
The three-hour game will feature 142 rescue puppies from 80 shelters across 40 states and two countries, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.
Two of the dogs dogs, Bark Kent and Lex Woofer, hail from the Great Dog Rescue New England. Both shih tzu dachshund mixes, Bark Kent will compete on Team Fluff and Lex Woofer will play for Team Ruff.
The two teams will go head-to-head to win the “Lombarky” trophy. One pup will be crowned the “Most Valuable Puppy.”
Audiences can also vote to name the “Most Pupular” player in a bracket-style playoff.
In Everett, the Park-9 Dog Bar is hosting its own “Puppy Bowl,” featuring adoptable puppies from Sweet Paws Rescue.
The event, lasting upwards of five hours, will include pre-game warmups and meet and greets for pre-approved adopters.
