VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — An 8-year-old boy died after being attacked by two dogs in Volusia County.
“This is a tragedy beyond comprehension, especially for those of us who are parents and grandparents,” said Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VSO) stated that on Monday, just before 5 p.m. the attack was reported north of Deland near Arabesque Drive and Airport Road.
Officials said that witnesses reported the attack and immediately called 911, as they attempted to perform CPR on the young boy, however, the boy succumbed to his injuries.

Deputies chased the dogs down the road and Volusia County Animal Services also came to assist and captured both dogs.
The dogs have been confiscated and are currently being held in quarantine by Animal Services.
VSO stated that they are in an active joint investigation to understand how the attack happened.
