November 6, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Wednesday November 6, 2024, at approximately 11:27 a.m. Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Calumet for a check welfare complaint. Initial reports indicated there was an unpleasant odor coming from the residence.
Deputies attempted contact at the residence and discovered 70 dogs in various stages of health. The home was found to be in deplorable condition, requiring significant attention.
Ultimately the Sheriff’s Office gained access to the home after being granted a search warrant by a judge. Due to the unsanitary and hazardous conditions in the home, the Calumet Fire Department was requested to assist with hazmat equipment to ensure a safe and thorough removal process.
All of the dogs were safely removed from the residence and turned over to Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton, where they will receive the necessary care and attention to improve their well-being.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, which remains open and active. Charges are expected to be filed once the investigation is concluded.
Also assisting on scene was animal control personnel with the Town of Calumet.
