The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a severe case of animal mistreatment in the north east part of the county Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Shortly before 11:30 AM, a delivery driver notified a local volunteer fire fighter that packages were building up on the porch of a residence on Highway 151 in the village of Pipe and also that there was a bad odor coming from the house. The firefighter notified the sheriff’s office who sent a couple officers.
Upon arrival, Deputies attempted contact at the residence and discovered 70 dogs in various stages of age and health. A search warrant was issued for the residence and because of the extremely unsanitary and hazardous conditions inside the house, the Calumet Fire Department was requested to assist with hazardous material equipment to ensure a safe and thorough removal process.
All of the dogs were safely removed and turned over to Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton, where they will receive the necessary care and attention needed.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation in the matter. Charges are expected to be filed once the investigation is concluded.
According to the Eastshore Humane Association’s Facebook page, the sudden arrival of the dogs has left them in need of dog food, bowls, potty pads, dog toys, money for medical supplies as well as volunteers to help clean and care for the dogs.
