6 people, 2 dogs escape apartment fire in Northwest Oklahoma City

Six people and two dogs safely escaped an apartment fire early Friday morning.

Oklahoma City Firefighters responded around 12:30 a.m. near Northwest 10th Street and N Council Road to a two-story apartment fire with possible victims trapped.

When crews arrived, they found one apartment unit engulfed in flames with fire on both the first and second floors.

Six occupants were at home, five were able to self-evacuate before firefighters arrived. One person was rescued from a second-floor unit and was taken to the hospital, and is stable.

Two dogs were also rescued from the building.

The American Red Cross responded to help the displaced residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The estimated property and content loss is $387,000.
