5th Annual Designer Handbag Bingo Will Fund Free Mammography Clinic – Front Porch News Texas

Sulphur Springs, TX –

The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation has served our community since 1997. It focuses on enhancing healthcare opportunities available to local citizens. One of the ways this is accomplished is by providing funds for medical equipment, programs, or construction to the local hospital, CHRISTUS Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs, or the Hopkins County Hospital District.

The Foundation offers three programs: an annual free mammography clinic, a new clinic for men (this year the Foundation chose free heart calcium scans), and In My Closet for women battling breast cancer.

The annual Designer Handbag Bingo is the source of the funding for the free mammography clinic. The clinic was originally funded through a grant. Once the grant was no longer offered, handbag bingo became the funding source.

Now in its fifth year, proceeds raised through handbag bingo have funded the last four mammography clinics and will fund the upcoming one in October. The clinic offers uninsured Hopkins County women over the age of 40 the opportunity to get a free mammogram. Interested and eligible women need only to register for an appointment on one of the Saturdays in October when the clinic is offered. Details will be made available in September.

Designer Handbag Bingo is a lot of fun. Still, it is undeniable that it also is making the lives of uninsured local women better by offering them the opportunity to stay up-to-date on their annual mammograms.

The Foundation is gratified that the community has warmly supported this bingo event. It has made the invaluable resource of free local mammograms available to women who otherwise would not have had an opportunity for a mammogram.

Approximately 550 women (as well as a few men) will gather on Thursday, August 8 to vie for some gorgeous handbags. Thanks to the support of the community and bingo players, 60 women will have an opportunity to have mammograms in October.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
